Great News!!

We have just gotten final approval for a new ball field for Washburn Park. This is wonderful to hear. As many of you know, this has been many years in the making. Thank you to those of you who came to the many Conservation Committee meetings. Without your presence it might not have passed that committee. Then we had to deal with numerous appeals by an abutter to the park. But that is all behind us now. Many thanks to Bill Washburn and John Rockwell for their tireless work to make this a reality. Without their commitment, this would not have happened.

As you also know from volunteering for the children in the town, a new field is desperately needed and will help all of our spring programs. With five teams, our softball leagues need more space and field time. Plus, it is less that ideal for the baseball teams who have to share fields with Sippican School and the Babe Ruth League. This field will make up for the field that we lost when the addition was made to Sippican School. Plus, a new field will let us continue to have Babe Ruth players use the field at Washburn Park. We are now ready for the next step and need your help! A parent committee is being formed to move forward with making a new field a reality.
